Amboseli National Park
Arrival in Amboseli
Your safari starts here, and we're as excited about getting going as you are. Your guide meets you in Nairobi before heading south towards one of Kenya's most beautiful parks Amboseli. Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest peak at 5,895m, dominates most views here, and the park is famous for its large population of big-tusked elephants. You have an excellent chance of seeing lions, cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, wildebeest and many gazelles. With 420 bird species recorded, it's also a great place for birding. Arrive, settle in, and head out for your first game drive as the afternoon light turns golden.

Hidden Gem: Taita Hills
Experience a quiet safari in Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary a private wilderness that not many travellers ever visit, making it feel like your own personal reserve. The trails that range across the forested hills are wonderful places to look for lions and elephants in a completely different setting from Amboseli's open plains. There's great birding here too, so keep your binoculars ready. The real showstopper is where you'll stay the night: perched on stilts above an active waterhole, where elephants and buffalos come to drink as the sun goes down.

Experiences

What Makes This Safari Unforgettable

Three parks, three lodges, three nights of ocean a single journey that captures Kenya's full range from high savannah wilderness to tropical coastline.
Kilimanjaro & Elephants
Amboseli's iconic combination big-tusked elephant families on open plains with Africa's highest peak as the backdrop. Photographers travel continents for this single frame.
Salt Lick Lodge on Stilts
Sarova Salt Lick is unlike any lodge in Kenya. Your circular room sits on stilts above a busy waterhole falling asleep to the sound of elephants drinking just metres below you.
Tsavo's Red Elephants
Tsavo West's elephants are famous for their distinctive red-dust coats. Lions without manes, possible rhino sightings, and vast wild landscapes make this Kenya's most dramatic park.
Watamu Marine Park
One of Kenya's most beautiful marine parks crystal-clear Indian Ocean waters teeming with reef fish, sea turtles, and spectacular coral. Snorkelling here is a revelation after days on the dusty plains.
Hidden Taita Hills
Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is one of Kenya's best-kept safari secrets a private sanctuary with forested trails, superb birding, and far fewer visitors than the famous parks. A true hidden gem.
Deep-Sea Ocean Adventures
Deep-sea boat rides, snorkelling excursions, coastal cultural dining, and swimming in the warm Indian Ocean Watamu delivers a perfect, total contrast to the bush that completes this Kenyan journey.
Insider Tips

Prepare for Kenya

🌅
Rise Before Dawn in the Parks
Dawn drives (6–9am) offer the best Kilimanjaro visibility and most active predator behaviour in both Amboseli and Tsavo West. Set that alarm it's always worth it.
👕
Pack Two Wardrobes
Khaki and olive for the bush; light linens and swimwear for the coast. The contrast in environments is total and so is the packing requirement. A small extra bag for the beach is ideal.
📷
Lens for Every Setting
A 300–400mm telephoto for wildlife, a wide-angle for Kilimanjaro landscapes, and a waterproof camera or housing for snorkelling. Watamu's marine park is as photogenic underwater as above.
🦟
Malaria Precautions
Both the parks and the coast are malaria zones. Consult your doctor about prophylactics before travel, use DEET repellent in the evenings, and pack light long sleeves for early morning game drives.
